Little Talks - Of Monsters & Men

Hey guys! It's me, Summer. I know, I know. I haven't updated in a while. I'TS FINE. I've been busy with Christmas and such.

I recently went on a trip with some of my friends (big surprise) and we met Ed Sheeran again. Oh, and Conor Maynard. Both are such cuties. Anyway, while I was on this trip my friend surprised me with a nail polish! It is an Essie polish called, "Da Bush," which i thought was hilarious because her favorite president is George Dubya Bush.

I decided to use it one day while I was working, I paired it with "Jade is the New Black" by OPI (one of my fave polishes ever).

"Da Bush" had a really good texture and was opaque in 2 coats which is better than my experience with most Essie polishes. Overall, I loved it. Definitely want to use this again in Fall.

Over and out, Summer.

Philadelphia - Parachute

Hey guys, its Summer!

I am back from yet ANOTHER concert. This time me and my friends went to Charlottesville, Virginia to see a band called Parachute. They played straight through both of their albums, one on each night. It was seriously an incredible experience. I had always loved this band, and had seen them live.. but after seeing them perform in their hometown to a sold out show.. they have become my fave. SO GOOD.

My nails for this trip were simple. I chose to do a glitter sammich with an accent nail. most of you guys probably recognize the green as Jade is the new black by OPI. still one of my favorite polishes for fall. The glitter sammich is Party of Five Glitters layered between (an unknown) Color Club (that i got on clearance at ross.)

These are some live shots i took at the concert.. sorry for the quality but I used my phone. We also made a video while we were there.. we are ridiculous. Watch if you will!

Turn It Up - Holiday Parade

Happy Independence Day everyone!! I've been super busy lately as I'm sure the other girls have been as well but I wanted to post a quick mani that I did for the July 4th holiday!

I used Essence Hard To Resist and OPI Alpine Snow as the base. The stripes are OPI An Affair In Red Square with the stars being Zoya Trixie. The glitter is a mix of OPI Getting' Miss Piggy With It and Essie Set In Stone. Hope you like it!

Fix A Heart - Demi Lovato

Hope everyone is having a great week! I have a few days left of spring break - so I thought I would upload a picture of my mani!

I haven't posted in awhile and I apologize. I lost my camera cord so I had no way of connecting my camera to my laptop. It is still missing...but I found a temporary one that works (very slowly).

I did this on Monday, so I had two days to enjoy it before I went to the car dealership and got a new one. Yep, I said that correctly. At my car dealership - free manicures are offered while you wait for your car to be serviced. How awesome, right!?

Get Over It - Ok Go!

Rainnnnny Sunday. Ahhhh...

Well, this mani features 2 of my favorite colors ever. Lucky duck by orly and skull and glossbones by opi! I did this mani a few weeks ago when my nail polish group did a 'retro' theme.... I had planned for this mani to look like old school wall paper... but I don't think I hit the nail on the head... I still like it!

I used a striping brush to make the lines and a mini dotting tool for the small dots. This was a quick paint job haha. I thought about doing something like this only a little more intricate. Would u guys be interested in that? Let me know!

Also, I want to start doing tutorials... what should my first one be? I did an easter bunny tutorial when we first started the blog, as well as a zebra stripe tutorial but I haven't done any lately. Leave me suggestions!!

We Are Young - Fun. feat. Janelle Monáe

This week I wanted to do something a bit easier on myself since I have a really long work week ahead. I decided to go with a jelly sandwich since I have actually NEVER done one before! I really can't believe that I haven't tried this sooner because I love the way it turned out.

First of all I started off with a coat of Seche Clear Base Coat. I then applied 2 coats of O.P.I. Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em from their Texas Collection. It's a beautiful color and a great jelly polish. Next I added To The Glitter End! from Sephora by O.P.I. It's a fabulous gray metallic chunky glitter. I keep wondering if it is a dupe for the Deborah Lippmann I Love The Nightlife. I have been fan girling over that one since I saw it! Then, I added another coat of Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em on top of the glitter. Fabulous! The glitter almost has a purple hue under the hot pink coat. I finished it up with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Seche is definitely my favorite base & top coat hands down.

I seriously can not get enough of this song "We Are Young" by Fun. It is absoultely brilliant. You might recognize the song from the Chevy commercial that has been in rotation ever since the Super Bowl. If you haven't heard of them before be sure to check them out!

Happy Valentine's Day! We hope you all had a lovely day. As promised, here is the collection post. Thank you so much to every person who sent in their pictures. Enjoy looking through the pictures and be sure to check out their blogs! You all are extremely talented.

From now on, we'll start off the collection post with our number one favorite. We loved all of the manis...it was a close call...but we decided on Joy as the number one for this post :) Great job, Joy! Light, flawless and girly color on this mani that seems to represent Valentine's Day in its entirety.

Enjoy the rest of the pictures after the cut :)

Pumpkin Soup - Kate Nash

Hi everyone! I'm so excited to be sharing my nail polish addiction with all of you! I have been an avid nail blog reader for months now. I must admit that reading this wonderful blog & seeing all of the amazing things that Summer and Alexis come up with is how I got the nail polish bug! They are two very talented ladies! I am so honored that they asked me to contribute.

Since it is February & Valentine's is right around the corner, I thought I would do something centered around that theme for this week and next week.

This week's theme is Sweet Hearts. I got the inspiration from those heart shaped candy with the messages that taste like chalky antacids! (The SweetTart kind are my favorite.) I wanted to mix it up and do something different on each nail. I thought my hearts & poka dots came out pretty good. I have to say that it was my first time doing lines free handed & they got a little wobbly. Practice makes perfect though! I also, of course, had to have some glitter!

I used quite a few different polishes for this mani. I recently bought 3 colors from China Glaze's Electropop Collection: Gothic Lolita, Sweet Hook, & Dance Baby. I used 2 Orly colors: Basket Case & White Out. Then 2 colors by Essie: Marshmallow & Turquoise & Caicos. Finally the glitter one is from the Katy Perry O.P.I. Collection: Teenage Dream.

I realize that my post title does not sound like a song for Valentine's but if you listen to it, you'll hear that it has nothing to do with pumpkins or soup. :)

P.S. Be sure to keep reading all February! Lots of great posts coming next week from Alexis and Summer!

A Team - Ed Sheeran

Hey guys! I really cannot believe it is almost Feb. Does that even seem real? I feel like 2 days ago it was thanksgiving. Anyway... I'm really excited for the things that are coming up next month. Its our one year blog anniversary, so its gonna be a special month. I'm taking the whole month to refocus my life and purge un needed things/people. I think I just need change. Which probably stems from the fact that I'm finally over my breakup. Does anyone else do that? I feel like I have to rid myself of any negative energy! Haha Which reminds me; I completely redid my bathroom. Its ADORBS, y'all. Its super girly and shabby chic, since my old bathroom was so dark, I went with alllllll light colors. Love it. Welllll, today was mani Monday in the PAA group, and the theme was crackle. I alternated black and silver base colors and then did opposite alternating shatter polishes on top. I like it, and evidently so did a lot of other people. I got a lot of compliments. Yayyy haha Anyway... keep an eye out for the awesome posts next month! And like us on facebook for even more info! xox - Summer

What Are You Waiting For (Allen Morgan Remix) - Lauri

Guys! We have our first guest post!

A while ago we had decided that we would love to have our first guest post, so we began thinking of who we should ask... well after a while I decided that we should choose Brooke. She had sent us some of her manis in the past and they were gooorrgggeous... especially her feather mani... anyway.. I asked her... and she said yes! Below is her post! ;)

I wanted to create a look for a wedding I went to this past weekend. The wedding was on Jekyll Island in Georgia at a gorgeous wooden chapel. The wedding was beautiful & I had a great time seeing friends that I have been missing. Last week I went to Atlanta to do some Christmas shopping & I found a fabulous pair of raspberry suede shoes that would go great with my dress for the wedding. Naturally I went and found some nail polished that matched my new shoes! OPI's Louvre Me Louvre Me Not was pretty much a perfect match. I couldn't have just one color on my nails so I added Orly's Shine & Essie's Luxeffects in Set In Stones for some bling. I painted my thumb & middle finger with Louvre Me Louvre Me Not & the other three with Shine. After that was dry, I sponged Shine onto my thumb & middle finger. I then used a reinforcement label to make the half moons on my pointer & pinkie finger with LMLMN. I used the Set In Stones on my ring finger for some added bling. I topped everything off with a coat of Seche Vite's Fast Dry Top Coat to speed up my drying time. P.S. If you are wondering about the song, it's by an artist from Finland. Lauri Ylönen is the lead singer of the band The Rasmus and he released a solo album, New World, earlier this year. This is a remix off of the New World: Special Edition. I have been jamming out to this song for about 2 months. The original is great but this remix is fabulous.

Shopping Day!

I went to a boutique today to buy some designer jeans on sale. On the way out, I saw OPI Shatter and had to turn back around and buy these! The blue really caught my attention. I can't wait to try it out! I'm going to paint my mom's nails tonight.

OPI Shatter 1

Has anyone else tried these colors? What base color do you suggest?

Father of Mine - Everclear

Hello world. Its me, Summer.
I guess you could say i'm following the trend.. and layering glitter. In the past month i have seen like.. 3 bloggers try this and it basically looks AMAZINNGGGGGGG. So... here is my version.

I used tickled pink by Wet 'N Wild, party of five glitters by Wet 'N Wild, and on top i used pink-a-doodle by OPI.

I love the way that the top layer mutes the harshness of the glitter. you can see in the picture above how contrasting the party of five glitters is the the tickled pink polish. it allows me to wear a chunky glitter with a pale polish color. LOVEEEE..

Here are the other 3 versions that i had seen..

****happy fathers day!!!!!

Easter Bunny Nail Tutorial

Hey guys! A few of you have seen my easter bunny nails and asked for a tutorial. Since this is the first tutorial that I've done, I am a little nervous to share with you! I left the edges messy because I dont clean them until the very end! (also my nail shape is terrible - I just removed acrylics. YUCK)

Make You Feel My Love - Adele

Worst. Make Over. Ever.
I mean, just to be completely honest, this was a horrible experience for me. I showed up at the Laura Mercier counter to have my make up done by a group of traveling "professionals" but I honestly feel my 6 year old brother could have done better.

Here is where it went wrong: they didn't ask what I w
anted to done, which is standard procedure.
Next thing they did wrong: bad mouthing the brand that they were supposed to be representing as well as other makeup brands. In particular, saying MAC has horrible skin care. This is common knowledge (they were created as a color line, not particularly skin care) but still, very unprofesh.
The last thing they did wrong: openly admitted that they were just doing easy applications so they could go to lunch earlier. NOT okay.

If anything good came from this experience, its that I go
t to try this AMAZZZINGG refreshing stuff from Laura Mercier. I did a little research on it, and it says that they harvest it off the coast of japan a few times a year. It was really thick for water but
made my face feel great. WHY have I never heard of this before?
**side note: I ordered essie "matte about you" because im obsessed with matte/gloss manicures. pictures to come soon. also, I found Shatter Polish! YAY!

Ice Ice Baby - Vanilla Ice

I decided this winter, after coming home from Washington D.C, that it has just been TOO cold. that being said, I really loved the idea of nails that look like they had just been dipped in water and ice sickles had just frozen on them. I decided that I would try to make this happen, and this is the result. Thoughts??

Heres how I did it:

I painted my entire nail "russian navy" by OPI

I then took white polish by OPI ( i cant remember the name ) and made vertical lines from the tip going down, I did various lengths and had to do this about 4-6 times on each nail for the look I wanted.
After I had let that completely dry, I took this silver glitter polish that I had previously
purchased at hot topic, and just dabbed the brush along the tip of my nail to make it look like it was dusted with snow, and gave it some texture.

***** over all, I'm really happy with the way that they turned out, and lots of people complimented them.. Hope you like 'em too!!

Black Shatter Demo Video that I found.

Hey!! My previous post was about OPI's Black Shatter polish. I forgot to attach this video. This demo/review video I came across on youtube was really helpful to me. It shows you how the polish works and it gives you an idea of how much polish to put on/what colors it looks nice with. Hope it helps!

You can find my other post on the nail polish here !

Xo Hope you all are having a beautiful day!

If You Can Afford Me - Katy Perry

Hey everyone! It's Alexis. I would have posted yesterday, but I've been sick with the flu. I haven't been experimenting with my makeup too much these past few days. I haven't been feeling well at all. My first post is going to be about something that I have bought recently and I adore: Katy Perry's OPI collection of nail polish!

From left to right: "Teenage Dream", "Not Like The Movies", "Last Friday Night", "The One That Got Away", and the Black Shatter Polish.

You can purchase all of these polishes at Ulta for $8.50, I believe. I would have to double check on the price. I decided to buy the mini pack. It includes mini bottles of all of the Katy Perry polishes excluding the black shatter! It was about $12.50. Since the mini pack didn't come with the black shatter, I bought a full bottle separately. I was dying to try it out.

Read more after the cut!
