Little Things - One Direction

Hey guys! Short post for yall today. Did a simple mani for a concert last month. It was boys like girls, all American rejects, and parachute. It was super fun!

I used fast track by China glaze as the main color. Its such an amazing color. Tan with goldish green flakies. It is perfect for fall.  The pale pink is by color club, as is the glitter. I am in love with the accent nails.

Have yall heard the new one direction album yet?? this song was written by Ed sheeran, my fave. How do yall like it??

Beauty And The Beat - Justin Bieber

welllll hello guys! I dont have much of a post for you all today.. but its better than nothing. This past week has been pretty busy, and this one coming up is going to be EXTREMELY busy, but really fun! I actually just got back from Nashville, seeing Ed Sheeran with a couple of friends, and tomorrow i leave for Oklahoma and from there we are going to Texas to see One Direction in concert. YES.
Anyway, onto the nails. I did these a few weeks ago and never posted them because honestly, i just dont love them. Ive done much better glitter gradients. The Gold polish is blonde bombshell by china glaze. I REALLY wanted to love this polish, and I do.. just not here. I actually got several compliments on these nails and  i will never know why haha.
I will have a big post coming soon, and im sure Alexis will have a HUGE post when she gets back from Europe. Keep your eyes peeled and your nails painted! hahah

Fix A Heart - Demi Lovato

Hope everyone is having a great week! I have a few days left of spring break - so I thought I would upload a picture of my mani!

I haven't posted in awhile and I apologize. I lost my camera cord so I had no way of connecting my camera to my laptop. It is still missing...but I found a temporary one that works (very slowly).

I did this on Monday, so I had two days to enjoy it before I went to the car dealership and got a new one. Yep, I said that correctly. At my car dealership - free manicures are offered while you wait for your car to be serviced. How awesome, right!?

Heavy - Lauri Ylönen

"It's heavy
but you are not the only one
who's tired of giving
afraid of the oblivion
Could it be that your curse is a bliss?
But the weight of the world never felt this heavy "

I am so still loving this song even after listening to it A LOT over the past year. The lyrics, the music & Lauri's voice are just amazing. If you've ever seen Lauri, you'll know why I chose one of his songs as the title for this feather mani. He's a bird! LOL :)

Anyway, On to the nails!

This week I decided to do feather nails! I haven't done these in a while & the first time I did them I followed Summer's tutorial!! They turned out fabulous!  (Of Course!)

I found some pink & turquoise feathers at Hobby Lobby a while back. I didn't just want to put them on a nude background so I used Fly by O.P.I. from their Nicki Minaj Collection & a pink from the Color Club All About Color Collection. (I have looked everywhere & I can't find the name of any of these colors). I of course followed that with Sally Hansen's Hard As Nails top coat & a coat of Seche Vite Rapid Dry Top Coat.

I did this mani on Sunday & I just took it off tonight. They held up really well even after all the abuse I put them through this week! I hope you all had a great week!! :)

We Are Young - Fun. feat. Janelle Monáe

This week I wanted to do something a bit easier on myself since I have a really long work week ahead. I decided to go with a jelly sandwich since I have actually NEVER done one before! I really can't believe that I haven't tried this sooner because I love the way it turned out.

First of all I started off with a coat of Seche Clear Base Coat. I then applied 2 coats of O.P.I. Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em from their Texas Collection. It's a beautiful color and a great jelly polish. Next I added To The Glitter End! from Sephora by O.P.I. It's a fabulous gray metallic chunky glitter. I keep wondering if it is a dupe for the Deborah Lippmann I Love The Nightlife. I have been fan girling over that one since I saw it! Then, I added another coat of Too Hot Pink To Hold 'Em on top of the glitter. Fabulous! The glitter almost has a purple hue under the hot pink coat. I finished it up with a coat of Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat. Seche is definitely my favorite base & top coat hands down.

I seriously can not get enough of this song "We Are Young" by Fun. It is absoultely brilliant. You might recognize the song from the Chevy commercial that has been in rotation ever since the Super Bowl. If you haven't heard of them before be sure to check them out!

We loved all of the manis...it was a close call...but we decided on Joy as the number one for this post :) Great job, Joy! Light, flawless and girly color on this mani that seems to represent Valentine's Day in its entirety.

Enjoy the rest of the pictures after the cut :)

Light - Rocket Summer

hellllloooo!!!!! I'm in a slightly better mood today ;) so I thought I would post some stuff that makes me happy! First of all, MY faveeeee pink polish ever. Pop Life by deborah lippmann. I rarely wear just plain colors, but this one is worthy haha.
Also, random side note: this color matches the pink on a cupcake box! They're the best cupcakes ever! And cupcakes make me happy tooo lol
Oh--- AND my sister had her baby. Remember the baby shower post? Well she finally had her! Baby lily is SO beautiful! I'd show you but I'm not sure my sister is ok with her being on the blog :/ She wasn't born in september like I wanted but at least she's a virgo like her auntie! (Me) hahah! Wellll that's all I have for today.

(i dont wear them tho, fyi) Here is cute As a Button on its own... its a cute color.. maybe i should bust this out before summers end :) BTW im STILLL awaiting my zoya package.. oh, did yall take advantage of the .99c sinful colors? i TOTALLLLY did. Pink - Aerosmith (((((DUPE!!!)))))

MY FIRST DUPE POST!!!!!!

I have for you today one of the CLOSEST dupes that I have ever encountered. I have never even seen a blog post a dupe that is THIS close. I bought both of these in the same week thinking that surely they wouldnt be EXACTLY the same... but I was wrong!!!

These colors are China Glaze - Shocking Pink and Sinful Colors - 24/7. Theyre TOTALLLY the same!!!

See they are TOTALLLLY the same... The colors are soooo much alike its insane. I actually wore both of these.. and to be completely honest.. the sinful colors lasted longer with out chipping. I mean they ARE neons, so that was to be expected.. but used a good top coat (color club 0-60) and the china glaze chipped within HOURS of application. completely irritating. However.. it did seem to dry very fast on its own... but the sinful colors did take a bit longer, even with the fast dry top coat.
All in all... the color is fun.. but the price difference is crazy - I paid 5.99 for the china glaze color at sally's beauty... and I paid 1.75 for the Sinful Colors polish. If u just HAVE to have this color - Might I suggest saving a little money and going for the cheaper polish at walgreens! I really did love the Sinful Colors formula more so than the CG!

dontcha think thats a CLOSE dupe?? I do.

Isn't She Lovely - Stevie Wonder

Sorry I have been M.I.A this weekend, I had A LOTTTT to do... mainly.. a baby shower. Which was my FIRST party that I have ever planned for anyone/anything. The theme was Zebra with pink and purple accents. I knew I was going to be doing a lot with my hands.. so I didnt do anything fancy since I was sure that they would chip. and they did. but here is the design I did for the shower. Everyone loved them.. but to me... they are so ehh... I normally do muchhhh better free hand zebra but I did them at work.. and felt rushed.

I really do like the color pink that I used. Im not even sure what it is called since it was a coworkers.. What I do know about it is, that it is from forever 21 and that it smells like cotton candy when it is dry. how fun? sooo fun.
Now onto the baby shower pics - keep in mind that I did this entire baby shower for less than 50 bucks. Below is a picture of the food... which of course is my favveeee part! hahah - the cupcake stand that you see, I actually made. All together it cost me 3 dollars.. and worked like a charm. My sister liked it so much she actually took it home with her. you can also see the wooden 'L' which I bought for 50% off and painted the zebra stripes on.. so cute. also.. the candy paci's I made for like 2 bucks.
The Centerpieces below were made by a family friend, Jennifer. She basically took the picture that I sent her, and duplicated them.. but I actually think they came out BETTER than the picture I had shown her. Theyre made out of diapers so that my sister can actually take them home and use them! The candy has custom labels on them with the baby's full name. I ordered about 100 of each for 3 bucks from ebay!
Everything that I used for the place settings was from the dollar tree - minus the zebra plates that I bought at party city. Everyone raved about them, and my 6 year old brother (asher) helped me set everything up!
Well there it is, my weekend in a nutshell. What do y'all think? Cute righhhht?

Break Your Heart - Taio Cruz (OPI's day of shatter!)

Earlier this month OPI announced that today was the 'day of shatter' and made a facebook event and invited everyone to wear shatter today. I didn't think I was actually going to participate because I am not a member of the shatter craze - however... I did decide that since I had purchased the shatter polish at full price, when it first came out, and only used it one other time.. that I should at least do something.

This is a pretty basic shatter mani - I diagonally painted the nails in 2 shades of pink and then covered in the thinnnnnnesssstttt coat of shatter possible (we all know if it goes on thick it will NOT shatter correctly) and this is the result. I like the way it shattered for me. Sorry for the short post.. more coming soon!

Father of Mine - Everclear

Hello world. Its me, Summer.
I guess you could say i'm following the trend.. and layering glitter. In the past month i have seen like.. 3 bloggers try this and it basically looks AMAZINNGGGGGGG. So... here is my version.

I used tickled pink by Wet 'N Wild, party of five glitters by Wet 'N Wild, and on top i used pink-a-doodle by OPI.

I love the way that the top layer mutes the harshness of the glitter. you can see in the picture above how contrasting the party of five glitters is the the tickled pink polish. it allows me to wear a chunky glitter with a pale polish color. LOVEEEE..

Here are the other 3 versions that i had seen..

****happy fathers day!!!!!

May Haul!!!!

Well, I think I did well this month. I didnt go TOOOO crazy, but I got some great staples for my collection.

My boyfriend always asks me HOW I can spend so much time/money/effort into nail polish of all things. I justify it as a hobby. Some people do toy trains, some collect knick knacks, and I... well I buy nail polish. I essplained it to him in man terms - I said you buy fishing poles and tackle - I buy nail polish and dotting tools! hahahha his reply was HIGH-larious... all he said was 'I understand' which obviously means... I give up. LOL anyyyway - this is what I got - plus a few of the colors i always try to keep.. but u dont need to see those :p

I saw this manicure on a blog, i cant remember which, but i will find it later and post a link. Gotta give credit where credits due, eh?

i love em tho, aren't they adorbs? i made the hearts with a dotting tool and it was suprisingly easy.. like.. anyone could do it lol

Every color i used was China Glaze, except the yellow and it was Sally Hansen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Zebra Nail Tutorial

So the other day one of our readers asked me to do a zebra nail tutorial.. so here goes nothing!

What You Will Need: a nail art brush in any color. I used sinful colors:nail art that I got from walgreens for 1.99. typically I use art deco from the dollar tree, since im cheap and all.

Next you will just choose your base color, I just used american apparel: cotton

After that has completely dried, just take the nail art brush and make slightly wavy lines about half way across your nail - i like to start from the corner and sort of go up and diagonal. i think it looks not so generic lol

Continue adding the lines until you have as many as you think looks good, and then add the wavy lines to the other side... going into the empty spaces between the other lines

After you have done this on all nails, just look at your nails and add 'filler' lines anywhere you think there is a gap - it should look similar to this when youre finished. BTW i left the ring finger white for an 'accent nail' but you dont have to do that.

SOOOOOO, did this help?? I will make a video later for our youtube acct and add a link!

What The Hell - Avril Lavigne

ITS CINCO DE MAYO!!!!!!!!!!! wooohoooo!

i wanted to redo my nails for today because well.... just because. My friend Spen'sar - another nail polish addict - let me use her nail polish for this one. but all i kept thinking was "what the hell am i gonna do to my nails?" sooo thats where the song came from LOL!

i just started with a white base and used my dotting tool to create the dots - i started with black and did them in straight dotted lines and finished with several different colors that i dotted randomly around.

i dont have the exact name of the polish that i used since it wasnt mine... but i know all of it except one was china glaze :)

like it or leave it?

She Aint You - Chris Brown

So for Easter my madre gave me an acrylic nail kit - with everything i would need to start practicing on how to do those... i know, my mom is awesome right? right.

Anyways, i used an opal tip and then used white acrylic powder - because i like to paint my nails and i figured if i did this i wouldnt have to use a base coat.

this is the result of my 2nd attempt.. i must say.. i did waaay better than expected. a few of my friends who go to have theirs professionally done said that they looked great for a 2nd attempt and want me to do their fill ins! hahaha

what do you all think? would you let me near your nails with acrylic?! hahah :) In this picture the nail color that i am wearing is Essie - Cute As A Button

ANNNDDDD this is after i added dots, the purple is Nina Pro - punky purple and the gold is Gold Grill
